Introduction to SIMA Abacus Program.

SIMA literally is Soroban Intelligent Mental Arithmetic. ‘Soroban‘ is the Japanese term for an Abacus.

Mental Arithmetic is a form of calculation that does not involve the use of Physical gadgets/instruments; it is solely done by the HUMAN MIND using the MIND’s IMAGINATIVE POWER in performing calculations.

SIMA students are trained with the SIMA Abacus such that after sometime, these students are able to do mental calculation faster than a calculator or computer by imagining the beads of the SIMA Abacus in their right brain. This method of using the mind to compute numbers naturally releases and unleashes the intelligence in children.

By visualising the SIMA Abacus, a child can do arithmetic calculations up to 20-digits and master the skill of doing it mentally without relying on any modern device such as calculators, mobile phones, etc.

Is SIMA Abacus Just About Mathematics alone?

The SIMA Abacus Program is Beyond Just Maths. Infact, It has been proven scientifically that the constant use of the abacus stimulates brain cells resulting in the development and enhancement of the brain. When the brain is made to work, it results in the activation of millions of brain cells which leads to growth of memory and ions that will cause the brain to work faster and make the child active; thus rendering the brain very powerful.

Many people often assume that learning mental arithmetic is merely a method to improve one’s speed and accuracy of calculation, for example, adding 10 to 20 – digit numbers within few seconds. This by itself is already an amazing accomplishment for most children.

However, there is more to this, because when children are learning SIMA the Abacus & Mental-Maths, they actually are also undergoing the process of developing other aspects of the brain. When children have acquired an astonishing calculation speed, the end result is the development of the following mental abilities: Concentration, Observation, Visualization, Imagination, and Retentive Memory.
